Tamplin had a brewery in Worthing at Brewery place from 1820 to 1822. The exact location of Brewery Place is as yet unknown. Recent
research has found what seems to be a Tamplin brewery in the Park
Road area of Worthing - see the Worthing breweries for more detail.
although recent research I have also been lead to believe that the leased space behind the Railway Hotel (Lennox) for a short period when his Brighton Brewery burnt down. After rebuilding it was named the Phoenix Brewery as it had risen from the ashes of the old brewery.

The Tamplin company held an almost monopoly like grip on Worthing pubs. it was taken over by Watneys in 1953 along with its 400 licensed pubs. |
